START A CANNED DRIVE IN YOUR COMMUNITY
TO ASSIST A VETERAN IN NEED
Time sure flies when you are having fun. It is now June and summer is here and we can’t believe it has been almost a year since we began our program last August. It has been a pleasure meeting hundreds of great people across our giant city that we call home. We always make sure to have no boundaries in our mission and one day we hope to be delivering food every single day to our homeless and in-need veterans across the United States. Our program was started in San Antonio by our founder Major General Alfred Valenzuela (ret.) and we have established a presence in the greater Los Angeles area that includes Orange County, San Gabriel County, San Bernardino County and Riverside County. It’s just one giant city that can easily be serviced; just hop on the freeway and if you’re lucky the drive won’t be so bad. We travel these highways every week on our missions.
Today, I want to ask for a favor. A great way to help us out would be to start a canned food drive either from work or as part of an organization that you may belong to. These non-perishable foods are precious in the redistribution of food and we can use as many canned items as we can get our hands on. We can easily deliver 100 cans a week to a veteran in need and to this honorable person it brings a smile on his or her face. We deliver food, clothes, hygiene items and whatever we know will give a smile to a veteran in need of assistance.
It was a lot of fun having our founder here last month as we took up every minute of every day and he enjoyed meeting everyone on his trip. He will be back soon. He always smiles and always welcomes and approaches people he feels he can lend a helping hand to. It is just who he is and we had a great time with him. MG Valenzuela has many friends here and it was great to see many of them at our fundraiser. He has known one of our Southern California directors, retired Army veteran Julio Ascencio, for close to 30 years and I have known him sense 2004. He has always wanted to meet new people and see who he can lend a helping hand to and he has no plans of slowing down.
We are also looking for monetary donations as we want to help hundreds of veterans every week with food assistance and with your help it can be done. We wish we were picking up and delivering food every single day from several states. We have a major plan ready to set in motion in several other states. We have the right team in place and only need some funding assistance from generous individuals with giant hearts that can be measured with their actions.
